Sticky Sweet Garlic Tofu

Ingredients:

  • 14 oz firm tofu, pressed and cut into cubes
  • ¼ cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, honey, garlic, and ginger. Add the tofu cubes and let them marinate for 15–20 minutes.
  2. In a separate small bowl, mix the cornstarch with water to create a slurry.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Remove the tofu from the marinade (set the marinade aside) and cook the tofu until all sides are golden and crispy.
  4. Pour the reserved marinade into the skillet. Bring it to a simmer, then stir in the cornstarch slurry. Cook for another 1–2 minutes, stirring gently, until the sauce thickens and coats the tofu.
  5. Serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.

Tips:

  • For extra flavor and presentation, top with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
  • Be sure to press the tofu before cooking—it helps remove excess moisture and makes it crisp up better in the pan.
