Savory Cheddar and Jalapeño Cornbread


Ingredients:

- 1 cup cornmeal

- 1 cup all-purpose flour

- ¼ cup sugar

- 1 tbsp baking powder

- ½ tsp salt

- 1 cup milk

- 2 large eggs

- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

- 1 jalapeño, finely chopped


Directions:


Step 1: Preheat Oven

1. Set the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a square baking dish.


Step 2: Combine Dry Ingredients

2. In a bowl, mix together the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.


Step 3: Add Wet Ingredients

3. In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter.

4. Stir the wet mixture into the dry ingredients until just combined.


Step 4: Fold in Mix-Ins

5. Gently fold in the shredded cheddar cheese and chopped jalapeño.


Step 5: Bake

6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.

7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.


Step 6: Cool and Serve

8. Allow the cornbread to cool slightly before serving.
