Homemade Kebab with Onion Marinade & Zesty Ketchup Sauce
Ingredients
For the Kebab:
- 1 lb ground beef or chicken
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Skewers (wooden or metal)
For the Onion Marinade:
- ½ cup plain yogurt
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 small onion, grated
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Zesty Ketchup Sauce:
- ½ cup ketchup
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tsp sugar
- ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

Prepare the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together the yogurt, olive oil, lemon juice, grated onion, salt, and pepper.

Make the Kebab Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add half of the prepared marinade to the meat mixture, mix well, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

Form the Kebabs: Shape the seasoned meat mixture around skewers, pressing firmly to ensure they hold together.

Grill the Kebabs: Preheat a grill or stovetop pan over medium heat. Cook the kebabs for 8–10 minutes, turning occasionally, until fully cooked and lightly charred on the outside.

Prepare the Sauce: In a small bowl, mix the ketchup, vinegar, sugar, and cayenne pepper (if using). Stir until well combined.

Serve & Enjoy: Plate the kebabs with the zesty ketchup sauce on the side. Serve with warm pita, rice, or a fresh salad. Enjoy!
