Beef Fried Rice
Ingredients:
3 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old and cold)
1 pound ground beef
1 medium onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 cup mixed vegetables (carrots, etc.)
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Vegetable oil for frying
Directions:
1. Prepare the rice: Use cold, day-old rice for best results. It’s less likely to clump and will fry up nicely.
2. Cook the beef: Heat oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until fully browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain excess fat if needed.
3. Sauté aromatics: Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion becomes translucent and the garlic is fragrant.
4. Add vegetables: Stir in the mixed vegetables and cook for 3-5 minutes until they are tender-crisp.
5. Combine rice: Add the cold rice to the skillet, breaking up any clumps with a spatula. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the rice is heated through.
6. Season: Pour in the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Mix well to evenly coat the rice and meat. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
7. Final fry: Continue stir-frying for another 2-3 minutes until everything is well combined and slightly crispy.
8. Serve: Remove from heat and serve hot.
