Fried Camembert
Fried Camembert is a delicious dish from Normandy that combines the creamy richness of cheese with a crispy golden crust. Perfect as an appetizer or starter, it’s sure to please any cheese lover.
Ingredients:
- 1 Camembert cheese
- 1 egg
- ½ cup breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup flour
- Oil for frying
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Slice the Camembert in half horizontally, then press the halves back together to form a "sandwich."
- Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with a beaten egg seasoned with salt and pepper, and one with breadcrumbs.
- Coat the Camembert evenly with flour.
- Dip it into the beaten egg, ensuring full coverage.
- Roll it in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to form a thick crust.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the Camembert in the oil.
- Fry for about 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- Serve hot with fruit preserves or a fresh green salad.
