Fried Camembert

Fried Camembert is a delicious dish from Normandy that combines the creamy richness of cheese with a crispy golden crust. Perfect as an appetizer or starter, it’s sure to please any cheese lover.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Camembert cheese
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup flour
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Slice the Camembert in half horizontally, then press the halves back together to form a "sandwich."
  2. Prepare three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with a beaten egg seasoned with salt and pepper, and one with breadcrumbs.
  3. Coat the Camembert evenly with flour.
  4. Dip it into the beaten egg, ensuring full coverage.
  5. Roll it in breadcrumbs, pressing gently to form a thick crust.
  6. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the Camembert in the oil.
  7. Fry for about 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  9. Serve hot with fruit preserves or a fresh green salad.
